FAQ
Sake (pronounced as “sah-keh”) is a traditional alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice. Although sake is sometimes referred to as 'sake wine,' it's fundamentally different than wine. Sake is a category of its own with a unique brewing process and over 10,000 variations. It ferments like wine, and it brews like beer, but in the end, it's just sake.
We could go on and on about it (because that's how much we're crazy about it) but you can start with this article first!
Here's an article, explaining common misconceptions of sake that come up way too often. And check back in the blog every now and then to learn more about sake!
What's great about sake is that it's so versatile of a beverage that it can fit in most occasions, in most situations. While more information can be found in our blogs section and product descriptions, to start, we recommended drinking our premium sake chilled and in a wine glass.
To decide whether each sake is dry or sweet, the Sake Meter Value (SMV), (in Japanese the Nihonshu-do) and Acidity levels are used for measurement.
The SMV measures the density of sake compared to water. The higher the positive number is, the drier the sake becomes, and the lower the negative number is, the sweeter the sake gets.
With the acidity level, the higher the number the richer the sake becomes, and the lower the number the lighter.
